Cignol, aka Paul Hammock, has been producing music for the past 9 years, and DJing since 1992. His earliest influences range from New Order to Public Enemy and the fledgling free-party scene around London at the beginning of the 90s. The explosion of the new electronica scene in the early 90s was the catalyst which turned him on to production.
Getting his hands on a 606 and a Juno 60 pointed him in the right direction. Since these early days his music has evolved into a blend of experimental and structured bits and beats, with melodic keys and soundscapes that leave you thinking good things. He has performed a few live sets, including Dublin’s Ice Bar with the Alphabet Set posse and The Leiden Elektronica Festival in Holland, where he now lives.
Cignol’s work is available on Alphabet Set’s ‘Wooden Educational’ compilation, on his website and on the mighty hole that is known as Myspace.website: cignol.alphabetset.net | myspace.com/cignol
